Annika Ström è nata a Helsingborg, Svezia, nel 1964. Attualmente vive e lavora a Selva, Maiorca (Spagna). Ha studiato alla Royal Academy of Fine Arts di Copenaghen fino al 1997, ma si è trasferita a Berlino dove ha vissuto e lavorato dal 1993 al 2005. Dal 2005 al 2021 ha vissuto e lavorato a Hove/Londra. Annika Ström lavora prevalentemente con film, performance, testi, pittura e colonna sonora. Le sue opere di testo si trovano in molte collezioni private e in installazioni pubbliche permanenti come LUX presso l'Università di Lund in Svezia e la stazione del tram Nordstan a Göteborg, in Svezia. I suoi testi sono stati installati sulla segnaletica digitale delle autostrade, hanno riempito cartelloni pubblicitari in diverse città, sono stati interpretati da attori negli ascensori. Inoltre, i suoi testi sono stati eseguiti da cori da camera di cui ha composto la musica. Attualmente sta scri- vendo un romanzo. Nell'aprile 2024 i suoi testi appaiono nel nuovo libro "Vitamin Txt: Words in Contemporary Art" recentemente pubblicato dalla Phaidon Press. Annika Ström was born in Helsingborg, Sweden, in 1964. She now lives and works in Selva, Mallorca (Spain). She studied at the Royal Academy of Fine arts in Copenhagen until 1997, but moved to Berlin where she lived and worked from 1993 to 2005. From 2005 to 2021 she lived and worked in Hove/London. Annika Ström works predominately with films, performances, text works, painting and soundtrack. Her text works are in many private collections as well in public permanent installations such as LUX at Lund’s university in Sweden and Nordstan tram station in Gothenburg, Sweden. Her text work has been installed on digital signs on motorway, filled billboards all over towns, been performed by actors in elevators. Further her texts have been performed by Chamber Choirs where she composed the music. She is currently writing a novel. In April 2024 her textwork appear in the newly published "Vitamin Txt: Words in Contemporary Art" by Phaidon press. She teachers Fine Art at the university of Arts, Zhdk, in Zurich.
