Monika Romstein (Saarlouis, 1962) vive e lavora a Francoforte sul Meno. L'artista ha studiato presso l'Università Statale di Belle Arti (Städelschule) di Francoforte sul Meno con Christa Näher. Ha conseguito il Master of Fine Arts nel 1998 presso il Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (Università di Dundee) a Dundee, in Scozia. Nel 1990 ha completato i suoi studi artistici e cinematografici presso l'Università Johann Wolfgang Goethe di Francoforte con un Magister Artium. Nel 1993 Monika Romstein ha ottenuto la borsa di studio internazionale DAAD presso l'Università delle Arti Applicate di Vienna, nel 2009 la borsa di studio Moldaus del Ministero delle Scienze e delle Arti dell'Assia e nel 2014 la borsa di studio Artist-in-Residence della città di Francoforte sul Meno.

Il suo lavoro è stato presentato in numerose istituzioni e gallerie, tra cui (selezione): Saarländisches Künstlerhaus (Saarbrücken); Kunstverein Frankfurt (Francoforte a.M.); Portico (Francoforte a.M.); Royal Scottish Academy (Edimburgo, Scozia); Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts (Glasgow, Scozia); Galerie Perpetuel (Francoforte sul mare); Galleria Anita Beckers (Francoforte a.M.); Galerie Hanf Weihnacht (Francoforte a.M.), Galerie Ulrich Müller (Colonia) e Galerie Gilla Lörcher I Contemporary Art (Berlino).

Monika Romstein (Saarlouis, 1962) lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. The artist stud- ied at the State University of Fine Arts (Städelschule) in Frankfurt am Main with Christa Näher.
